SEUSL students pledge to refrain from ragging
The second year students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka has decided to refrain from involving in ragging and other untoward incidents and declared that their Faculty is free from ragging and in future they would never harass their first year students instead they would help and guide them to go ahead with their educational programmes.
This declaration was made at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language (FIA) in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. M.M.M. Najim, Dean As-Sheikh and Dean S.M.M. Mazahir and Dr. S.M. Junaideen, Head of the Department M. H. A. Munas, where all the 1st and second year students were present.
Second year student Najah Mohamed on his declaration affirmed that the second year students in future will not involve in ragging or harass the students, so that they can go ahead with their activities without any fear or tension. He also gave an assurance that as far as possible they would help them in whatever possible way and keep the Faculty free from ragging. He also announced that a ceremony to mark this event will be held soon, he said.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Najim in his address said that he was happy to note that the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Languages, has set an example not only to the South Eastern University but to all the universities in Sri Lanka as well. This historic event will be recorded in the University Grant Commission too, he said.
Dean of the Engineering Faculty Dr.S.M. Junaideen, Dean of the FIA As-Sheikh S.M.M. Mazahir and several others also spoke.
